5/2 - No More Con-Fusion? Fusion Wins Against Chameleons and Claims First-Half Title

Unlike this weekend's Mayweather vs. Mosely fight, Fusion and the Chameleons put up a slightly more entertaining bout. At stake was the first-half season title for the Seniors division.

Unlike previous clashes between the two teams, this game was much more defensive and came down to the last inning.

A coin flip determined the home team, and Fusion won the toss. That would prove to be a significant detail as the game came to a conclusion.

The Chameleons jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Fusion responded with a run in the bottom half of the second to tie the game. Fusion then extended the lead to 2-1 with a run in the bottom of the fourth.

After their quick start, the Chameleons struggled to answer Fusion's offense. For four straight innings, the Chameleons posted blanks. However, with the game on the line in the top of the sixth, due to some hustle on the bases, the Chameleons managed to bring home a run to tie up the game at 2-2.

Fusion had a chance to respond to the Chameleons and respond they did. Seemingly with very little trouble, Fusion got runners into scoring position, and eventually brought home the game-winning run. Fusion completed their championship run extending from the Mid-Season tournament and captured the UHO Seniors division First-Half Season Title. Congratulations, Fusion.

Still a question remains: will this mark the turn in the rivalry of Fusion and the Chameleons? For one reason or another, the Chameleons have found ways to split through Fusion's element of supremacy. Once league play resumes, will the Chameleons get the best of Fusion again? It should be fun to watch the next round between these two teams. Round 5 is scheduled to take place on May 11th at 8:40 PM.

4/30 - Fusion and Chameleons: Round IV This Sunday for First-Half Division Title

The Chameleons and Fusion will get together once again. This time, at stake is the first-half season title.

The game will be played this Sunday at UHO, starting at 6 PM (although the game may be pushed back to start at 6:30 PM).

Fusion comes into the game on fire, having captured the Mid-Season tournament title for Seniors.

The Chameleons faltered in the tournament, but rebounded with a victory in league play against the Lady Spartans to keep pace with Fusion in the standings, thus forcing the one-game playoff.

In their meetings thus far, the Chameleons have a 2-1 head-to-head advantage over Fusion.

4/29 - From NWA: New Parking Regulations during Kickball Season

This announcement was posted on NWA's website and is effective as of April 28th, 2010. Please heed this information if you are traveling to NWA for a game.

NWA was notified today that parking has been an ongoing concern for School and AISD officials throughout the kickball season.

Effective today, April 28th, AISD Police will be patrolling the area and issuing citations for parking violations.

There is to be no parking in the lot near the Teenage field (even if the gate is open), no parking on any grass surfaces and no parking along any red curbs or near the fire hydrants along the streets.

Please be respectful of these concerns and be a good partner with the School. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and adherence to these guidelines.

4/29 - Team Photos Update: When Will They Get Here?

So it's been a while since the team photos were taken on Opening Day. And we know that everyone, including you, wants to get their hands on the lovely photos of not only their favorite team, but also of their favorite players.

Here's what we know about the photos at this time.

The photos should be in around the end of next week (May 7th). That's the current, estimated delivery date. Once we've had the chance to go through and account for the photos, we should have them ready to pass along to you during the week of May 10th - 14th.

Concerning games that week, we will have a full week; therefore, check the latest schedules to see when your girls are due to play during the week. Also, check back to the website prior to the week (again, May 10-14) so that you have information on how we will distribute the pictures. That will ensure that you get your pictures and confusion is minimized.

For the three teams still needing to take photos (Cherry Dimez, Eclipse, The Beastettes), we will have some information for you soon concerning when you can get your team photos taken.

4/29 - Just for Fun: Kung-Fu Pete

This photo was taken during Seniors tryouts on February 20th, 2010. UHO Kickball President Pete Vallejo was kicking flyballs to the girls when the camera caught him striking a pose, described to us as the Crazy Black Dragon technique. Sorry, Nissa; we caught you too, making a face!

4/28 - First-Half Titles Up for Grabs

Tonight, we have two games affecting first-half league titles.

Lady Hurricanes (JR4) LogoUnknown Team (versus) LogoKool Katz (JR3) Logo

In the Juniors division, the Lady Hurricanes and Kool Katz get together to scratch out the first-half champion in the division in a special one-game playoff. Both teams come off of great performances in the LMK D4 Mid-Season Tournament, with the Lady Hurricanes finishing second, and the Kool Katz finishing fourth.

The Hurricanes secured their spot by blowing past the Jaguars on Monday, while the Katz set their place via a forfeit win against the Lady Divas last Thursday (the Lady Divas didn't have enough players to compete).

The Beastettes (TN3) LogoUnknown Team (versus) LogoCherry Dimez (TN4) Logo

The Beastettes and Cherry Dimez will tangle in a Teenagers tussle. If the Dimez win, they will finish the first half with a perfect record in league play. They come into the game with an even greater level of confidence after capturing 1st place in the Teenagers division of the LMK D4 2010 Mid-Season Tournament.

The Beastettes have only lost one game in league play thus far, and it was to the Dimez in a well-fought game. The Beastettes come into the game looking to find their rhythm again. After their epic 10-inning battle with the NWA Gladiators, the Beastettes have dropped two of their last three games; both losses occurred in District games.

If the Beastettes win, a one-game playoff for the Teenagers first-half title will be scheduled soon between the two teams.

4/26 - Two Moments at Mid-Season: Seeing the Good

By Dennis, Your Neighborhood UHO Webmaster

If you don't read all of this, you're going to miss out on seeing something beautiful! You've been warned!

What you are about to read is going to seem very weird, almost inappropriate for a kickball website. Don't worry. I will try to keep my comments neutral, or politically correct (I will place myself on the record as despising that term). For the record, my thoughts are solely my own and are not necessarily those of UHO Kickball, UHO, or Optimist International for that matter... but you knew that already.

Trust me; there is a kickball connection here. I wouldn't write this if there wasn't.

I am a reflective sort of person, which is why most folks, when seeing me for the first time, think I'm so quiet. Of course, I then open my mouth and all perceptions change! Anyway, I found myself awakened very early this morning. Because of where I am in life right now, early mornings are an exception. By early, I mean something on the order of 5 AM in the morning. So, I got up and started reading a spiritual book.

I will make this one statement and quickly move on, because this site is not a pulpit for preaching, but... I believe in something or Someone greater than ourselves. There... I said it... now let's move on.

As I was reading, I found myself reflecting on the theme of goodness or good things. I believe that this something or Someone brings those good things into our lives.

I said I was moving on, so let's keep moving!
